Lily L. Bonilla

Lily L. Bonilla is an Adjunct Professor of Child Advocacy & Policy at Montclair State University. She is a bilingual adjunct professor of Psychology and Counseling at Pillar College. Ms. Bonilla is a supportive piece for the MSU Communities Organizing for Prevention & Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) as the Parents Outreach Coordinator and the Lead for the Paterson Networking Connection forum. 

Certified by the American Psychological Association and Brandeis University as a Coordinator & Facilitator for the Adults & Children Together (ACT) Against Violence Raising Safe Kids Program. She is a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children in the New Jersey Superior Court. She is also a Certified Church-Based ESL Ministries Instructor, and Certified Mental Health First Aid Assessor. 

Ms. Bonilla comes with a background of mental health and family advocacy for decades, and over the last six years as a NJ-Multisystemic Family Therapist working with at- risk out-of-home placement youth struggling with chronic, violent, and serious antisocial behaviors ending in incarceration and probation with the juvenile justice system. During that time, she served as a member of the Cultural Diversity & Inclusion Council for Community Solutions Inc. 

She is a member of the Community Network Association (CNA) of Hudson Steering Committee, member of the Montclair State University Latinx/a/o Caucus, American Psychological Association, the Latino Mental Health Association of New Jersey, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the National Institute for Latino Policy. 

Ms. Bonilla earned her Master’s degree in Child Advocacy & Policy from The GraduateSchool at Montclair State University, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, along witha Minor in Latin America Latino Studies from Montclair State University.One of her biggest passions is to advocate, educate, and empower individuals tocomplete their self-sufficiency goals and become motivational leaders, extending hope,and promoting long-lasting change in their communities. She grew up in a home wherethe NJEA Union was a voice for her parents for decades. It is an honor for Ms. Bonilla tojoin and responsibly represent the AFT Montclair Adjunct Union Local 6025 ExecutiveBoard and to be another voice for Adjuncts.
