Mary Wallace
President
Mary Wallace spent 40 years in public education. As an NJEA member, she was the treasure and later president for 10 years of the Fair Lawn Education Association. Upon her retirement she joined the Education department of Montclair University and promptly joined AFT Local 6025 while remaining a life time member of NJEA. She served as vice president under both Presidents Noonan and Russo. She is also chief negotiator for adjunct contracts at both the local and state levels. She is the elected Adjunct Representative for the Council of New Jersey State College Locals where she advocates for all adjuncts across the state. She serves on the Budget Committee and the Adjunct Committee of AFTNJ. "I will always be a strong advocate for unions. I look at my 12- and 14-year-old granddaughters and know they will never have to work in sweat box factories 6 days a week and my 10-year-old grandson will never have to work in a coal mine. I want everyone to understand what unions have done for us with a 5 day - 40-hour work week, sick leave, health benefits, and on and on."
